We have a very busy practice in Amarillo, Texas covering one main facility (475 bed Baptist-St. Anthony's ) and numerous (~35) outlying clinics and community hospitals (See above links for and ).
At BSA, we have state-of-the-art equipment: fully integrated PACS, MR (one GE 3T, three GE 1.5T), multi-slice CT (128-slice, 16-slice), angiography (2 digital suites), sonography (3 Acuson Sequoia), etc. This facility has been recognized as a center of excellence in multiple annual nationwide surveys by U.S. News and World Report: BSA facilities receive honors. We have an active interventional program (TIPS, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, stents, biliary interventions, intracranial coils for aneurysms, CT guided RF and croyoablation, carotid stents, cardiac CT, etc.). We provide 24/7 in-house coverage at this facility. Closely associated with BSA is the Comprehensive Breast Center (CBC), a state-of-the art breast care facility. CBC capabilities include stereotactic breast biopsy capability, digital mammography, R2 CAD, and Aurora Breast MR. High Plains Radiological Association (HPRA) also staffs Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic, a large group of internists which has 10-slice CT, ultrasound system, mammography, and 1.0T MR. Open MR and Spiral CT of Amarillo has a 16-slice CT, 1.5T MR, ultrasound, bone densitometry, and plain films. Of course, the outlying community hospitals we cover have additional MR, CT, and sono facilities. All outside mammograms are brought into a central mammography facility, which has R2 CAD and an automated computer reporting system.
HPRA has a strong relationship with BSA. As a sign of the strength of this relationship,
a Joint Venture between HPRA and BSA has been formed, the Advanced Imaging Center of Amarillo. This
project opened in December 2007, and resides in two separate outpatient imaging locations. The facility comprises two 1.5 T MR, a low-field open magnet,
a 64-slice CT, a 16-slice CT, ultrasound, bone densitometry, and plain films.
Our group continues to adopt the latest technology to provide quality medical
care. Our teleradiology effort is state-of-the-art and continuing to expand, employing high speed internet
connections. We have implemented voice recognition dictation at many of our rural sites, with a goal
of completing the transition to voice recognition in Fall 2008. The Lightning Bolt Scheduling program
(click image at left) gives internet access to our work schedule. We have strong emphasis on accurate, high-quality services – a
Problem Case conference begins each of our group meetings. The HPRA Web Site facilitates
group communication and document distribution, schedule access, etc. We operate an effective billing office with low overhead.
We currently have 25 radiologists, including radiologists with subspecialty training in Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Angio/interventional, Pediatrics, and Breast Imaging. We have recently added an a Breast Imaging Fellow from Indiana University, a musculoskeletal fellow, and radiologist a with both a Neuroradiology Fellowship (Stanford) and Nuclear Medicine training (Univ. of Wisconsin).
